This novel was definitely a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Carr develops her scenery in vivid clarity, allowing you to enter the story alongside her characters, while at the same time telling a unique and intriguing tale that definitely had me thinking. This is not a fast paced story, but is one where you really get in close with the characters and deal with some rather difficult situations.The personal conflict within the female lead was astounding. Although she caused a great deal of her troubles on her own in the first place, seeing her trying to muddle her way out of her newfound sink hole was awe-inspiring and jaw dropping. More than once I found myself cursing her new boyfriend. He was such a pompous, arrogant, presumptuous jerk that I couldn`t figure out what she saw in him. I actually cheered when he hit the road. I did find that the relationship between the two main characters (even with said boyfriend out of the way) was just a little too easy. There were so many issues that they needed to work through before they got to where they were, but then again, they were the type of people to take things at face value, which was their issue originally, so the circle came about face. As a whole I found this novel to be a very mellow, approachable read that really tugs at your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and getting to know these characters. I was 4 chapters into this book before I realized I had read it on my kindle several summers ago, but I kept on reading it. I love series and like to read them in order but with this one I just read all I could find about the Riordan brothers. So entertaining! Hopefully I will eventually find the rest of the books in the series in my favorite used book store! Try one, I am sure you will like it!
