About book Angel In The Rubble (2000)

Angel in the Rubble was an autobiography about a survivor of the collapse of the twin towers. This thrilling story shows Genelle's journey to recovery and what helped her get through her many hours stuck under the rubble. The collapse of the towers and being stuck for so long changed Genelle's life forever. Many of her friends were killed by the collapse but Genelle was just ahppy to be alive. I liked the amount of detail when the towers were collapsing, the moments before. You can paint a picture in your mind about what it was like and what everyone went through. I think it may have dragged on a little bit when she was going through the recovery as there was a lot of moments in the book that probably would of been better without. Overall I loved the book, there was rarely a dull moment in the text and I would recommend the book to anyone over thirteen, I believe they would enjoy it very much. Oh my. This was quite a book to read. The main charcter Genelle, was doing so many things wrong. She moved to New York and planned on being here a year and then bringing her daugther to live with her. After two years she still did not have her daugther with her. She was hitting the night life all weekend long and had a boyfriend but did not respect him enough to stay home. She went to work like normal on 9/11 and did her normal routine. She had a chance to get out but stayed and walked down the steps with other co-coworkers about 90 minutes later. Her boyfriend had been waiting outside for her and had no idea she did not get out after she called him and he told her to leave the building. She made it to floor 13 when the walls started to crumble. She is not a perfect person and none of us are. She found God during her 27 hours of being buried alive. It was a very powerful story about God and second chances. She found a man named Paul that held her hand and tried to calm her down until rescuers found her. It took them almost 4 hours to uncover her. It was a wonderful story of the power of hope and getting a second chance.
