About book An Illustrated Book Of Bad Arguments (2013)

I was referred to this book by a teacher that I mentor in my school district, and I was glad he did!For people who spend a lot of time reading or watching what the media offers, this is a very interesting read. Once really internalized, it was easier to see the mechanization behind the messages we take in through articles, websites, commercials, tv shows and movies, interviews... anything really. As an English who has taught basic argumentation strategies for a decade, some of the information was familiar, but Almossawi even includes some techniques I'd never heard of, but Googled to find he didn't make up. The examples are fun, although some mildly echo actual events the current crop of high school students wouldn't know about or remember. When I read it a few months ago, the entire book was available online for free, but it is also published in hardcover.
