About book America's Hidden History: Untold Tales Of The First Pilgrims, Fighting Women, And Forgotten Founders Who Shaped A Nation (2008)

This was a great book to listen to. It brought up a lot of history that I was not familiar with. One thing that made me laugh was the mispronunciation of the town of Haverhill, MA, in the story of Hannah Dustin. The reader pronounced it as "Hay-ver-hill", but it is really pronounced "Hay-vrill". (Almost five years living in the NH town across the border from Haverhill taught me the correct pronunciation.)The stories of young George Washington and older Benedict Arnold were very interesting. If you like American history, you will enjoy this book. Some of this book deserves 4 or 5 stars but the beginning really wasn't that good so I compromised and gave it 3 stars, which means I liked it. I really enjoy reading and learning the history about the revolutionary war and our founding fathers. He gave some great history of George Washington, and Benedict Arnold that was so interesting. I really liked that he mentioned the quartering act was one of the reasons behind the revolutionary war. I took a class at Snow College, the History of England, that I loved and the teacher really brought out that the quartering act was the main reason for the revolutionary war. Most of the time that doesn't even get mentioned. The story of Anne Hutchinson was terrific too. Overall it had some great stories and that's why history is so fascinating.

Slow. Losts of long lists of dates. Will put you to sleep if you listen to it on audiobook.
