About book American Gun LP: A History Of The U.S. In Ten Firearms (2013)
A retelling of American history through the lens of ten guns - this book is truly unique. In a time when there is so much anti-gun sentiment in America, it is always nice to take a step back and remember how ingrained guns have been in American culture throughout history (in good ways and in bad). Written by a former Navy SEAL, the book reads more like a conversation than your traditional history book. With this in mind, the diction used in the book often assumes knowledge of the mechanics of a firearm - something I myself am not well-versed in. That being said, you could really feel through his writing style the passion Kyle had for firearms and for American history. All in all, fascinating subject matter, easy to digest, and the epilogue bled red, white and blue. I highly recommend this book. Excellent read! Kyle takes us through a most entertaining trip through American history through the eyes of ten firearms. You would be surprised at just how exciting this book is. I highly recommend this book. I suggested that my thirteen-year-old read it and he seemed less than interested. But when I left him alone with it, he began to read. I asked him how it was. At first, he simply said that it was okay. But as he read more, he thought that it was incredible and that I should just give him the book. Once he finished it, he returned it and I was finally able to finish it. And it was marvelous.
