About book America Is Under Attack: September 11, 2001: The Day The Towers Fell (2011)

When I first saw this at the library I was shell shcoked. First: I couldn't believe this was a history book, it made me feel REALLY old. I was a little nervous about how it would be told because I remember that day so very well. The story was easy to read, well-written and simple to follow. I was in tears by the end, probably because it just brought back all of those memories. It was a touching story and I liked that it focused on several different people so the whole story was told. It's a good way for younger kids to learn about what happened. Enough details to understand but not so many that it would bother me for my kids to read it. Excellent history of an experience that most children today are too young to have even been alive for. They need to know the history since it was such a turning point of our time, and while this book is accurate and even poignant, it is not scary, and the pictures capture the essence without the gore that accompanied that awful day. For us adults who vividly remember, it reawakens a lot of feelings and even images that were forever burned in our memories!
