I originally got this book from an acquaintance here on LJ. I had read the first, Once a Thief, and so had wanted to read the second as the story in the first seems like it continues on. So I have to say thank you for that lorettakay. I don't remember how I stumbled upon the first book though it is likely that it came in the box of books a friend sent me. Anyways, the author was originally new but, of course, wasn't for this story.I can't say Kay Hooper is a great writer. She's an okay writer and I did like the story but I'm a little annoyed that it seems to be a series. I thought... I can read two books but it seems that the story of Morgan and Quinn is just going to continue on... forever. I'm not keen on that and so I think I will say my farewells here and move on.It is an interesting series; I will give it that. Not only is it a bit on the mysterious side but there is the element of romance and a little suspense.. so I can't say it wasn't interesting. It seems a little implausible at times as our Hero and Heroine have a connection that literally lets them sense one another's presence. That is a bit over the top for me in this book. In a book that is set for the more super-natural, I would understand it and accept it but that is the only element of the books that is super-natural and therefore out of place.I think I'm going to swap it as I doubt I'll ever read it again.
Okay, can someone tell me if there's another novel tied into these? Cause I'm adding a groan of frustration when I say - "What the H-E-double hockey sticks!"Now, let me start off by saying I enjoyed this one just as much as the first, if not more. The plot thickens and gets better. I loved how it all played out. Especially between Morgan and Quinn. The lies and manipulations were just as thick in this novel and added to the intrigue. The action scenes well placed and played out. And I paid careful attention to Morgan, the way her mind works, the way she manages to put things together.I thoroughly enjoyed how it all came together at the end until - and this is where my frustration came in. A twist at the end of the novel made me realize that it truly wasn't the end and dammit, now I need to find the next novel. I wonder if someone can help me with that? I'm still limited in my time with access to the internet and I'm going to have a hard time for the current moment. But I so can't wait to read the next one. There is a next one ... I hope? Let me put it this way - there'd better be!
I was very eager to start on this sequel to Once A Thief, because in the first book, Morgan met the mysterious Quinn, but their relationship haven't develop further yet. The story revolves around the Bannister Collection yet again, I was wondering why it took so long for the collection to just get the hell out. Anyway, what I like most is the relationship between Morgan and Quinn. Although some the things that Morgan did make me roll my eyes a little. Like how she keep pestering Quinn and put herself in danger and HE in danger. The ending is a little open ended. I thought Hooper actually plan for another sequel, but was disappointed to find out that she didn't. What a bummer. Quinn is such an interesting character.

2.5 stars - It was okay, but if it was continued, I don't even care to read the last book, maybe that's why the next book was never published.I should've liked Morgan better, being a strong woman who is an expert in her field, but I just didn't. I think there was more to her personality in Once a Thief.Likes:* Morgan and Alex/Quinn's psychic link* Alex courting Morgan openly* Alex/Quinn working with the good guys* Max's mother* Storm's trap* mystery of dead woman and knife found in the basement

Always a Thief picks up right where Once a Thief left off. Truthfully, the two books probably should have been published as one, but either way it's a great story.I am desperately waiting for Kay Hooper to come back to the series and pen another addition. So many loose ends were left at the end of this book that fans of Quinn & Morgan have been clamoring for another story. Quite honestly, with the variety of characters and the complex relationships between them, several more stories could be written and I would be at the front of the line to get them.
