Am not sure what I think of this series of books. Kinda left feeling dissatisfied with the endings (this is book 2) and I suppose this is deliberate to reel you into the next book however I think that drawing the major issues through all the books is going to be a feat that not even the best authors can totally accomplish without getting confused along the way - we shall see! Don't get me wrong I am really enjoying the books am just hoping that they tie it up soon and get a new storyline on the go. Am not hopeful as I have discovered that Sherrilyn Kenyon has stepped away from the writing partnership and looking into the Belador series there are no current plans for anything new. I have two books left to read and if they don't round off the theme of Evalle and her constant fights for freedom am not going to be a happy chappy! As i said this is the second book and Evalle - the female alterant and heroine of the story has gotten into more trouble with the tribunal - a bunch of gods from mixed mythologies including Loki, Ares and Macha. This time she has to bring three escaped alterants before the tribunal after extracting a promise from them to give them a fair hearing and a chance at freedom. She is given three gifts she can use in the task but is unable to ask any of her tribe or friends for assistance.Storm - a shaman skinwalker who's other form is a jaguar insists on helping her and gets away with this as he is not employed by VIPER - an organisation Evalle works for when she isnt trying to appeast the tribunal. The problem Evalle has is that while she is trying to find these Alterants she has to enlist the help of another who has been caged in a south american jungle and he isnt particularly happy with her as she returned him there in the first book. She also has to deal with being hunted by a tribe who want to use her to take over the mysterious homeland of the Belador tribe leader that is basically the source of their supernatural powers. I'm in love!! This is such unique subject matter within the Paranormal genre. By the end of Blood Trinity, I was fully invested in each & every character. That's only increased ten-fold after finishing Alterant.I'm a bit tardy with my status update and have also finished The Curse, #3 in this series, and have just today dived right into #4, Rise of the Gryphon. If you hang in there through about the first 1/3 of #1 in this series, I promise you will NOT be disappointed! These ladies have not cowritten ump-teen bestsellers because they don't know what they're doing . :-)
