First what I liked. I loved Zeus and his addopted family. They were sweet.What I didn't like was the amount of strange names and races introduced in comparatively short book. I remembered only Rhys and walking plant. The rest remains unnoticed. They might have had an interesting story all by themselve but I just didn't manage to remember them all.Anyway, it was pleasant little story. I call it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5, held back from that last half-star solely because there's a very convoluted plot and massive world-building packed into a slender volume. However, the story is so strong and the characters are so engaging that I think Alpha Trine overcomes those things. I was lucky enough to win a signed paperback copy from the author and it came with the most adorable doodles of some of the main characters--I will treasure it forever!Zeus is the main character front and center, but once Dargon and Alpha appear they're also a powerful presence from that point onward. The plot moves quickly, almost so quick it could make your head spin, but there's never a dull moment and it makes for a fast-paced read. This volume also leaves off on a place that will leave you very much anticipating the next promised volume, Striker. While this volume covers a lot of ground and has some great action, it winds up with some unanswered questions as well. There's other mysteries yet to be resolved, and that keeps me invested in finding out where Zeus, Dargon, and Alpha--and Zeus's family--goes from here.Well done! I can't wait for more.
