Bridget Jones has a new avatar. She wears sarees over jeans, sneakers, believes in bogus god women, smokes, swears and is all round awesome. She is Aisha, and she is almost single.Advaita Kala is a breath of fresh air (or mirchi and nimbu) in the stale choola batoora that is Indian lit these days. Almost Single is a breezy, entertaining, amusing and easy to read. Recommended for females (guys, you won't like this one) in the 18 - 35 age range (older women may also appreciate it). I love Bollywood and thought this book would be a fun little read. I found it to be pointless and kind of boring. There are a lot of Indian (Hindi) words that were hard to understand just in context and there usually was no explanation of the words. The books said it was supposed to be the " The Hindi Bridget Jones" so not. It was fine..the ending WAS soooo lack luster. I actually put the book down for a month and started and finished 2 other books and then I decided to pick this back up hoping it would get better. It was a quick read if you could get into it but it was silly. A girl that hates her job, gets drunk too much, and falls in love with a guy who digs her too but, their romance is so boring. It is basically a really boring Hindi Soap Opera. On an up note, I did learn more about the Indian culture and it was fun to hear about Aisha getting dressed up in her Sari but all in all these Indians wanted to act like Westerners instead of Indians Oh well I read it I finished it and I don't have to read it again! .
