About book Allt För Dig (2011)

This was a reasonable read. It was a bit drawn out and I found myself skipping pages here and there.I had no time for Deanna, Lainey's mum who literally left Lainey with her grandparents as a baby without any discusssion with the grandparents. Not to mention that she fled Ireland and headed to America when she just snuck out one day. Gosh! Is that selfish, irresponsible and pathetic or what? Deanna thought her daughter would be better off with them and didn't feel she could juggle her passion to make a difference for women in the future and parent. Oh please.... what about the girl you brought into the world? Don't get me started. However, I did like the story about the 3 generations of women and their relationships with each other and how the story moved back and forwards in time as you got to know more about Deanna and her reasons for doing what she did. The book also centres around Lainey and her relationships with men(one in particular) and what she is seeking in a man. Lainey is a popular forecaster on the national TV, but unfortunately she can’t say the same about her love life. She has been dumped a couple of times and engaged twice. Now she has a new boyfriend, Ken, but is he Mr. Right? To make it worse, her estranged mother, Deanna, has returned to Dublin. She’s a high-profile feminist and she doesn’t approve of Lainey’s choices. Especially when it comes to men. After all her failures, this isn’t exactly what she needs now.As Lainey thought she was up-to-date with family history, she’s totally wrong. During the stay of her mother she discovers some interesting secrets about her parents. That’s not the only thing Lainey gets to know. What does she really want in life? And what does she expect from het boyfriend? It has been a long time since I have relaxed so much while reading a novel! All for you was a very enjoyable read and I couldn’t put it down. This was my second novel by Sheila O’ Flanagan, but I think this one was even better. The story began a bit too slowly with a lot of complaining about Lainey’s previous engagements and her other boyfriends. This didn’t really interest me, but when the action began, I was sold.It was oblivious that Ken wasn’t the right man, although it seemed so in the first chapters. You didn’t get to know much about him, but that didn’t bother me. The way he acted said enough about him.Deanna was a die-hard feminist and this made it nearly unbelievable. She was often rude and didn’t seem to care about her daughter. I think she could have been a bit kinder. She wasn’t an easy person to live with, because she was always snapping at Lainey. The whole history behind Lainey was very interesting and the blurb didn’t suggest you would have the opportunity to look in the mind of Deanna, which mad it even nicer. You get to know a lot about Deanna and you start to have some respect for her as well. What I also liked was the ending. It wasn’t perfect, which is often the case with chick-lit, but it was more open, but I liked that. It left me with a good feeling and that tells a lot about a book.If you’re up for a romantic read with some information about the weather, I think you should read All for you!
