About book All The Presidents' Pets: The Story Of One Reporter Who Refused To Roll Over (2004)
Okay. Parts of this book were indeed amusing. The Ann Coulter fistfight in the bar near the beginning, for instance. And then I just couldn't get into it and I did so want to like this book, I've been wanting to read it for years. I just kept forgetting I wanted to read it. There are great tidbits about the Beltway and presidential pets, but the style used, which...is...uh...all over the place and disjointed and doesn't seem to add up to anything...made me take up another book to read. I kept flipping through to the back, then flipping back to the front of the book, to the parts I'd read and...yeah. I almost felt like this was a first draft and not a finished product! I have not read anything else by Rocca so I might be...I don't know, not patient enough with this book. I got it, marked down to about fifty cents, at the thrift store so I can let it set for a while, come back to it, try it again. Trying to read something this silly and all over the place might be a little too much in my present state of black despair, hopelessness and utter disenchantment with, oh, everything ever. PS-- I liked the beginning of the book. I just lost total interest and started snorting a couple chapters in. Sigh.
