This is the second in the Letting Go series by Nicole Deese, but can be read as a standalone. Once again I am blown away by Nicole's story telling abilities - she is able to pack so much of life into a novel that makes the reader crave more. This story is essentially about the romance between Charlotte (Charlie) and Briggs. But like Nicole's other stories, it is also a story about learning to trust in yourself, family, true friendship, dreams (and how they can change with time), putting others first, and learning that true love is patient. Nicole does not write of insta-love - instead she fills the pages with emotion and caring and allowing love to grow and mature. Her writing is excellent, but it is her storytelling that pulls the reader along on the journey. She also give us secondary characters that we can care about - they are not just superfluous. Charlie and Brigg's families and friends provide stability for their blossoming romance. Nicole has a gift of giving dimension to complex characters and a voice to those who have suffered abuse and neglect. "The only way to overcome out past, is to deny its power over our future." This book, like Nicole's other books, makes my 6 star status - one that will stay with me long after the last page is turned. "Sunsets couldn't be by chance. Art wasn't made without an artist; just like creation wasn't made without a master Creator." I really enjoyed this book. The main characters were very likable. I generally hate books with religion in them because I am not at all a religious person, but the author managed not to overdo it. I would have liked to see Briggs and Charlie (aka Charlotte) in a relationship more. Most of the book is about their friendship. The epilogue didn't quite do it for me, I feel like the author should have added more. But all in all this was a great read!
