I loved Lauren. She was so protective of her friends and her friends were so protective of her even if she was unaware of some of their protections. She came from a background that didn’t lend itself to trust but loyalty she knew. She would fight the devil for a friend and unfortunately the devil had a pretty face and strong hate for Lauren. And then she met Van, a shifter whose bear fought him for control at first scent. I adored Van. He was a shifter with tons of responsibility and he took them seriously, perhaps a little too seriously. And now he has Lauren, a human, who calls to him at a primal level. I loved the struggle Van began even before he met Lauren to move past his angst and prejudice against humans. Fighting his bear as he comes to accept who and what Lauren is beginning to mean to him was well articulated by Celia Kyle in All Roar and No Bite. I thought Ms. Kyle gave us a wonderful return to Grayslake. This addition can be read as a stand-alone as she gave us two strong and vibrant characters. The chemistry between Lauren and Van felt real as they worked together to understand their differences as well as their similarities. I loved how protective they were of others, as well as each other, even as the moved past their fears. I am looking forward to seeing what else Ms. Kyle has in store for her Grayslake series. Four twinkling Stars What I like most about these books. Are the stories. Yes it a shifter romance,And there is gonna been a lot of sex. But it also has a good story line. I also like it when the books of a series connect. Brings in characters from prior books and they are integral in the story..truly love that the female characters are not stick figures. Curvy and luscious . This is about Van a shifter bear who really wants nothing to to with Humans. Lauren who runs to the rescue of her friend Anna . Lauren and Van meet when Van arrests Lauren for assault against Anna's husband who is, abusive, and the human mayor of Grayslake.
