About book Alice's Adventures In Wonderland And Other Stories (2000)

I have the green classic bound book. I wanted to read all of his works but I have many other books that I wanted to read so I mainly focused on the Alice series. I liked parts of the book but it's difficult when the reader is trying to make sense of a nonsense world. I loved the poetry included in both stories...more was in "Through the Looking Glass." A lot of the films about Alice in Wonderland combine both stories and I notice leave out certain parts such as Humpty Dumpty, the Duchess, and Alice's party as queen. I thought Lewis Carroll was an okay author but not my cup of tea so to speak. The stories were really good but hard to follow at times. I've always loved Alice and the world she fell into therefore I wanted to read what the original stories had to say. Wonderland is Alice's dream world where nonsense is key and in Through the Looking glass....the inverse is reality. A lot of intelligent writing and imagination went into the writing! As an adult, it was interesting to read this novella and reflect on its belnding of genres. As a person interested in politics, and also as someone interested in Victorian England, I found the political satire within it interesting and delightful. I am also a sucker for a pun and enjoyed the use of those throughout the work. I'm glad that the list of hundred books that FB published gave me the spur I needed to read this work. Of course, I've read portions of it but I couldn't recall ever having read the complete work. I'm glad that I have read it now.

Can one go through life without having read "Alice?" I used it in my last sermon!

I still wonder about Carroll's state of mind when he wrote this.
