Per le patite del romanticismo, per una lettura dai toni leggeri “Orgoglio e perdono” si presta molto. E’ un romanzo rosa nel senso più stretto del termine, carico di quei buoni sentimenti, di un certo umorismo e di tanto, tanto romanticismo che di solito si legge per tirarci su il morale. La storia non è tra le più originali, ma grazie ad una scrittura semplice e scorrevole, la narrazione è piacevole. C’è anche una piccola componente gialla che non guasta e rende, con un tocco di mistero, la narrazione interessante. I protagonisti Rick e Josephine sono ben caratterizzati e la loro storia è proprio la classica favola a lieto fine. Lui è dannato e malinconico con un passato di abusi di droghe ed alcool e un’accusa di omicidio colposo che gli pende sulla testa come una spada di Damocle. Ma è redento, quasi un asceta. Incontra Josie in uno dei suoi numerosi negozi per animali. Lei non ha una vita di coppia o meglio quando l’ha avuta è sempre stata un insuccesso e i suoi uomini si sono sempre dati alla macchia. Insieme alle sue 4 amiche e ai loro cani, fa un giuramento di non inseguire più nessun uomo e di rimanere come i moschettieri tutte per una, una per tutte. Ma non ha messo in conto la lista all’universo e la signora Needle. Tra risate, cani che ringhiano, blog contro gli uomini, scappatelle, e un tentativo di omicidio, la storia avrà il suo lieto fine. In definitiva è un romanzo simpatico, adatto per passare qualche ora spensierata, per chi ama le storie d’amore e una buona dose di romance, che sicuramente verrà apprezzata dalle amanti del genere. The mystery was good and the romance was not over the top, but just enough. I wouldn't say it's the best I've read, but it definitely was not one of the worst.
