About book Agatha Raisin And The Busy Body (Agatha Raisin, #21) (2010)
The only reason I finished this is because the mystery book discussion group was reading it.I disliked the main character so much that I have absolutely no desire to read any of the other books in this series. I can't think of one redeeming quality for Agatha Raisin, except perhaps that at the end of the book she helped one character start a business, but that had a giant nasty consequence for another character. Otherwise, she is a grumpy, controlling, complaining crank who lets others do her detecting for her. Additionally, the mystery here left a bit to be desired and required much suspension of disbelief.I enjoy Beaton's other series much more, so I'll stick with that one. Another fun outing with the curmudgeonly detective Agatha Raisin. Agatha never learns when to let things go and hand over to the police, she always seems to end up in some sort of jeopardy. In this story things are going from bad to worse as Mr John Sunday, an officer with the Health and Safty board, takes his duties a little bit too seriously and makes the lives of the locals unbareable with the enforcement of many petty rules. Someone obviously has a very strong dislike of Mr. Sunday, (but then so do many people in the area) and he meets his comeuppance in due course. There is little sympathy in the close knit village and their reluctance to talk to the police, or to Agatha and her team, make this a difficult case to solve.Although there are certainly murders in M.C. Beaton's books they also have great humour and they are not gory. A nice easy, relaxing read.

This read just wasn't the greatest of MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin. Poor writing and mystery was poor.

I like Beaton's sense of humor. His characters are older and flawed.
