Fantastic! This book is as good as her first book. This part of her memoirs covers her life from 14 to 21 years of age. It's amazing how much can happen, and how much a person changes in just seven years. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in one day. Unfortunately her 3rd book in this series of memoirs will not be coming out until October 2014. I truly hope Cathy Gildiner continues to write books. When I found out this was the book for my book club this month, I wasn’t too thrilled. I’d tried to read Gildiner’s first book, Too Close to the Falls, when it was published and I remember I didn’t finish it. Over the Falls is a continuation of Gildiner’s life, from age twelve to her college years, and I was a bit worried that I would find her teenage years as uninteresting to read about as her childhood. (Not that her experiences were boring; more that they were way over-the-top, almost to the point of disbelief.) I actually planned to just skim the book enough to join the book club conversation.I started to read it and although it didn’t grab me hard, I kept saying to myself “OK, just one more chapter”. Before I knew it I was halfway through and found that I wanted to continue on and read about her teenage adventures and college experiences. I finished the book quickly and ended up enjoying it quite a bit.Gildiner certainly had an unusual upbringing and gives new definition to the term “spirited teen”. I enjoyed the book enough that I think I’ll go back to her first book and give it another try. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood when I attempted to read it.Gildiner is going to be coming to one of our book club meetings this fall, and now I’m really eager to meet her and hear more about her life. What an interesting person with extraordinary life experiences!
