About book Adventure Time Mathematical Edition Vol. 1 (2013)
I've heard great things about Adventure Time but never seen it, so I thought reading the comics would be a good introduction. Well, I was wrong - I didn't get the appeal. I couldn't hear voices in my head, I didn't know who the characters were or what their larger relationships were (although some of that eventually comes through in the book). I now suspect the comics are better read once you've seen the show and understand the humor.(also, many of the pages have tiny footnote-like asides at the bottom, but they're barely readable: it's not just that they're tiny, but they're also in the faintest possible lime green. Does this also somehow tie in to the TV show, or is it just there to annoy those of us with old eyes??) This collection of Adventure Time adventures is simply awful. It does not capture the feel or humour of the show, like Playing with Fire does.It simply has the most generic plot they can imagine, and stretch that plot line over the course of five/six issues. Its not that funny, the plot is stretched out and definitely feels like it, and I simply could not enjoy this book.Check out Adventure Time: Playing with Fire instead, its by a different writer but miles better than this tripe.

This is layered and charming and fun, much like the TV show.
