Wow, 5 stars for sure. This is the first book I've read from AC Baxter. Wow, not disappointed. The story had me hooked from the beginning. What is there not to love about Ace and Cherry. They leave Ohio escaped to get a fresh start in California with Ace's grandma and his sister. Ace to get away from the women he loves and Cherry to clean up her act so she can get her son back. Their relationship goes from being just friends, well Cherry is already in love with Ace, to something much more. But the past has a way of catching up with Cherry and she has to make a decision that will rip their lives apart. Will their love survive? A great book, could not put it down. Definitely recommended and looking forward to book two. Overall I thought the storyline and foundation was pretty good, but lacked the same heat and intensity you brought us in "Book two Lights of Peril The Way Home." The author rushed through so much and didn't bother adding all the emotional depth, she normally brings. I kept asking myself time and time again, is this the same Ace? Where's the self assured cockiness, we all grew to love? The wounded loner who drank himself into oblivion and tried poaching Hem's woman. Surely this isn't the same guy! As for the down and dirty steamy scenes that left us all panting with the need for the big Oooo. Ace's Redemption was just as exciting as a Viagra infomercial for erectile dysfunction. We are so not going to discuss Raegan aka Cherry! Then there's the reconnection with Sadey in the hospital room! A perfect opportunity to exploit reliving memory lane. Where shes the one asking for a little one on one alone time. Sadey... Sadey...Sadey! But even that was glossed over, where the stupid twit acted like Ace's feelings were one sided. Ummm bullshit! If that's truly the case then who was he tasting against the door before Hem's big return, and who gave off mixed signals? I know...I know we'll blame it on the brass knockers. Those metal handles are enough to get anyone horny and get their pies licked! After all she was only trying to provide the frantic man some advice and emotional support.. Can you say awkward?I think its safe to say I was disappointed, so read at your own risk.
