About book A Wrinkle In Time: The Graphic Novel (2012)
This is one of those books that I never read and just took everyone's word that it is a great book. Well, I am actually mad that I did not read it sooner. I honestly feel like this book could really make some kids think differently about reading in general because this book is part of a quintet which makes readers want to read the one following and related to the one they just finished. It is a bittersweet feeling when a book you enjoyed is finished and I think that is where those quintets and series books are perfect for those who cannot let go of the stories and characters yet. These characters fight off dark forces and save our universe. The names of the characters are even intriguing. For example, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. It deserves the Newbery medal and this book does a great job at engaging readers, trust me! I would use this book in literature circles in my classroom because it is important to create the experience that this type of story unfolds in a student's mind. L'Engle, M. (2007). A wrinkle in time (1st ed.). New York: Square Fish. A Wrinkle in Time was a very strange book, it was my least favorite to read. I actually thought it would be my most favorite, because I really love the name of it. I got lost at certain times, and couldn't keep up with the plot of what was going on. It really didn't do anything for me. It wasn't mysterious for me, and as a future educator, I wouldn't intend to have this is my classroom, and that would probably save me a lot of head ache with parents, concerning censorship. I can usually create a pretty great images in my head when reading a book, and I just couldn't with this.
