If you like a romance with a lot of Bible references then read this. Each character depends on the word of the Lord. Grant promises a dying man that he will protect his daughter, Vanessa. Vanessa is whipped and raped by her stepfather and Grant and Vanessa flee. The only way to really protect her is to marry her so that the law can not force her to return to her stepfather. Price is furious when he learns she is gone and sets out to hunt them down. Miles (Vanessa's brother) must gain some courage so he can set Price in the wrong direction from his sister. As the couple travel the midwest to Grant's sister house they fall more for each other, but both are afraid of letting the other down. Once at his sister's house, he gets Vanessa settled and leaves to find work elsewhere and allows her to heal. When word reaches Vanessa several weeks later that Grant has been shot and is in dire straights she sets out to find him, however not before she contacts the bank for the money left behind for her by her deceased father. This immediately sets Price off to Grant's sister house. Once Vanessa and Grant are back to his sisters (they have since made their marriage official), trouble arises when Price and Miles shows up. Everyone has their guns leveled at the other, only for Miles to kill his stepfather. Later that day Vanessa finally tells Grant she is pregnant. And they live happily ever after. The End. This was a great christian romance book set in 1873 in colorado and texas. It was a very good romance story of a young girl Vanassa and a ranch hand she has loved named Clayton. He promises her father on his death bed to protect Vanassa always. When her life is threatened Clayton takes matters into his own hands and runs away with Vanassa. As the lord leads them on and speaks to their hearts their romance grows. It is a good read
