Gidwitz speaks directly to the reader while changing up the stories we already know and throwing in a few surprises. Reluctant readers will gravitate toward the adventure in this story, and those who enjoy a little danger will enjoy it.I experienced this book in a literature circle, and I think it will fit perfectly into a classroom as group-read. In some cases, it may not fit into curriculum, but should be in the classroom library for students to be able to experience on their own.Interest Level: 4-8Reading Level: 4.6AR Points: 6Awards: ALA Notable 2011, Notable Books of the English Language Arts 2011Primary Bookshelf: SeriesGenre: Fiction, Adventure, Fairy Tales, Chapter book

I love this book. It takes Grimm fairy tales that I wouldn't have initially connected and weaves them together masterfully, as well as includes several witty retorts about some of the stupid moves made in Grimm fairy tales. Overall, it was very well done. I'd recommend it to fans of fairy tales and people who want to learn more about Grimm fairy tales. Even if you don't fall into those categories, it is still well done.

Super funny. I love that it brings back the original grim tale or at lest closer to it.
