About book A Song Of Ice And Fire, 6 Volumes: A Game Of Thrones/A Clash Of Kings/A Storm Of Swords; Steel And Snow/A Storm Of Swords: Blood And Gold/A Feast For Crows/A Dance With Dragons (2000)
Was re-reading the book... I read it when it came out, the first book I bought with my old Kindle, on a subway train in London. But I digress...When I was reading it for the first time I thought this book was like someone was stretching the material too much. Too much subplots regarding Tyrion and his travel, too much jerking of at the wall etc. But now I got a different image. GRRM is building a great narration and it is not fully foreseeable what will happen. New characters are introduced the will twist the story in a different direction and add another layer of deceit and murder. I liked it. It was a bit too long and I gave it only 4 stars because the chapters with the prince of Dorne were flawed and it was easily foreseeable what would happen with him. No spoilers. I have never seen the TV series, and this series has been on my list to read for several years, but I was reluctant to begin an epic series that hasn't been finished. I wanted to avoid major spoilers from my TV watching friends so I figured I had better get started. Huge mistake. I thought Moffet was an evil bastard. George R R Martin makes Moffet seem like a friendly muppet. Mr Martin makes you invest and love in a character then kills him/her. There are more twists and turns than a snake pit. Just when I think I have a character's motives figured out, they die or Mr Martin pulls the rug out from beneath me and goes in another direction. Easily one of the finest book series that has broken my heart.
