About book A Nantucket Chrtistmas By Nancy Thayer (2014)
The reading slump is deep and dark. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Queue up the cheesy Christmas reads. Yes, I know it is March. But I need a Christmas reading miracle. This book was just, eh. Sebastian and Nicole have gotten married later in life. Sebastian moved from a controlling, perfect wife and a demanding, high-profile job to a warm, loving, and a bit chintzy Nicole. He couldn't be happier. Nicole is looking forward to having Sebastian's pregnant daughter Kennedy, her husband, and their four year old son to their home in Nantucket for Christmas week. But, Kennedy's obsession with her parents getting back together may ruin the Christmas spirit. This was the typical Christmas story. It was a feel-good story against the backdrop of quaint Nantucket. Christmas really is better in historical New England. I liked Sebastian and Nicole's relationship but Kennedy was just too over the top for me. She was probably 30-ish and acted like her parents divorce was ruining her life. She was immature and petulant. However, it was cute, I read the whole thing in just a couple of hours, and it was nice to get a read under my belt. There was also a cute little dog which really was just the icing on the cake :)Now, I am going to read another Christmas book. This is a judgement-free zone. I enjoyed this heartwarming story of a family brought together for the Christmas holiday. Sebastian and Nicole are beginning their lives together and encounter some difficulties with family members. As with any broken family, changes occur and this is quite difficult for Sebastian's daughter to handle. There is an unusual character involved in the story. This character adds some whimsy to this touching story.I truly enjoy reading short Christmas stories during the month of December. Unfortunately, this book arrived late. So it added a bit of holiday spirit to the boring month of March. I look forward to reading it again this coming December
