The setting and dual time period aspects of this book are what drew me to read it. But the story did not feel completely fleshed out. The characters fell a bit flat for me. Also, I do wish that she had used a few synonyms for the word PEERLESS. It's sad that her use of that word over and over is one of the main things this book left me with. Please note that I didn't hate this book. But I'm not compelled to seek out other titles by this author after reading it. Most of the story seemed forgotten or lost in translation. I didn't expect it to have the ending that it had but all in all I made it through the book. I did agree with a comment a reader left that some sentences and paragraphs must not have been proof read. Had I not read another book by this author and been half way through the book after reading the comment by another reader I would not have read the book.
Got through half and gave up. Too slow. Just never really grabbed my attention.
