I bought this book in June 2013, waiting on my to read shelf until now. Deciding to read it in the midst of waiting book reviews and I enjoyed every moment of it. It is the first book I have read from the author Laura Landon and it will not be my last. She captured the heart of the story so that it compelled you to read the book, almost non-stop. It is charged with drama, depth and love as we learn more about the characters portrait in the book. Her writing skills is fluent, leaving you almost breathless at the end, willing the story to continue.Filled with enough suspense as the two people faced many twists and turns in their forced marriage. Hate, the underlining current that almost destroyed everything, all because of social gossip and lies. Trust, the core of any marriage, that is tested throughout the union, hoping and believing that one's word still means something.Beautifully written, you get lost in the turmoil of the characters, connecting with them and really enjoy the book. A great read for anyone who loves regency romance. This book was a cute, easy read. The genre was victorian romance, and overall, it was a pretty good book. I liked the idea of the plot line, and the initially strong character Allison was. Then, her character fizzled out. She went from "I have my own ideas" to "I'm in love, so let me just give up on everything I believe in" type of attitude. This annoyed me, but the story line was adorable, so yeah.
