If I were just beginning to read on a regular basis, this would have been a 5. Cute story of a preacher on his way to his new post, stopping to help a marshal who was shot, and a young woman convict who had been hurt in an attack. He helps but realizes he will end up the one to bring Sarah to the place she's to hang. On the way quite a few things happen including the surprise of love.Sweet story, fun premise. Much of it was well written. But it fell short in portions that needed more narrative. This would have been a good clean YA western romance. I would recommend it to younger girls. But it was a little simple for me.Nothing wrong with simple, it just didn't hit the cord for me that I was hoping on. A Lady Like Sarah - Margaret Brownley(*SPOILER ALERT!!!*)Isn't Sarah so cute, striving so hard to be a proper lady? Though she was a lot of fun, with her spunk and independence, somehow I pictured her more wild, untamed, rugged. I thought she was gonna be an actual outlaw. She really didn't do anything. She's never killed anyone, never robbed anything. The only real reason she's classified as an outlaw is 'cuz of her thievin' brothers. That was actually a bit disappointing.Justin is so sweet. And good. But why did he resist Sarah so much? It wasn't like he was a monk and unable to marry or anything. So why was he so opposed to liking her? 'Cuz she was an outlaw and destined to swing, huh? He didn't want to get attached to someone who wouldn't live long. Well, whatever his opposition was, it sure didn't work. :)Elizabeth is so adorable, the precious little baby.Prescott brothers:George - I kind of feel sorry for him, so used to his robbing, he doesn't know how else to live. Oh, and I just love his and Sarah's arguments!Robert - He was pretty sweet for a renegade, wasn't he? And he wrote romantic poetry? Definitely not your normal ruthless thief.Jed - He just seems to be the type that follows the lead, except for the little tussle with George in the end. But still, I don't think he would have spoken up if Robert and Sarah hadn't.All in all, this was a great book. It had the romance, the adventure, and (my favorite) the cowboys.
Do You like book A Lady Like Sarah (2009)?
Great book. I had a hard time putting it down. The characters just keep growing and changing.
