Unless you're a fan of bicycle racing, especially the European scene, I can't honestly recommend this book. But for those who are, you won't find a better more engrossing look into that world of cobbles and Kermesses.Parkin gives the reader an 'eyes wide open' view of the peloton. Nothing is sugar coated or left out: doping, the border-line poverty of the low-level racer, the behind the scenes world of team transfers, contracts and pay outs (or reneged pay outs). Only 5 stars if you're a bike geek who follows the European racing scene. If not, it's still 5 stars. And you should buy a new bike and get into following pro bike racing. It's the cool sport. This book tells the story of a racing pro from the states who spent three years in Belguim, living the dream as a moderately successful pro cyclist. you may never see sports in the same life, but it's real!
