I give it 1.5. The story isn't particularly interesting, but the real problem is that the writing and characters are pretty awful. June, the protagonist, doesn't seem to have a proactive bone in her body (according to her actions), though her dialogue and thoughts have her rebelling against everyone constantly. The grammar issues are pronounced. The first-person narration switches tense from past to present mid-sentence, there are major conjugation issues especially around plurals, and there are verbs that don't make any sense in their sentences. There are also contradictions in the plot, and the descriptions of the people and places seem to change based on what's most convenient for that particular paragraph.Overall an uninspiring read that continuously frustrated me.Abandoned the night of 11/6/2014. What do you do when you discover that your normal life is not real, and the reality is stranger than you ever expected? How does one go from flea-market homeopathic to metaphysical village shop-keeper in a handful of days, not to mention becoming a murder suspect? If you're June Heal, you stock up on Ding Dongs and take the changes on, head on.This paranormal cozy mystery (a genre I didn't even realize existed, silly me) was a fun read. June's efforts to keep up with the whirl of events thrown at her willy nilly is amazing. I loved the diverse cast of characters and the setting.Suffice it to say that I'm tagging the entire series for my TBR shelf.Thank you, Tonya Kappes!
Do You like book A Charming Crime (2012)?
Nice story line, but horrific editing made it difficult to read. Or maybe it wasn't edited at all?!
