Finished January 24th - not counting in reading challenge since it's a short.Very good story from a series I love and will miss. Nice the author provided a few free short stories in between the three novels.This one follows the second and has a magical situation at hand that could destroy people Crane and Stephen both hold dear. Interesting section (not a full fledged story, of course, too short), but done well with a satisfying wrap-up. Ah, I'll miss these characters. The mind of K.J. Charles is a wonderful,and sometimes, scary place. She can combine creepy disturbing images along with sweet romantic moments and it works. I love the "A Charm of Magpies" series. Crane and Stephen have become on one my favorite fictional couples. This wonderful free read may be short but it is packed with everything I love about the series. It has a bit of mystery and magic. I love Crane and Merrick's friendship, probably just as much as I love Crane and Stephens relationship. A wonderful addition to the series.
