About book 80 Days - Die Farbe Der Begierde (2012)

Sad. If you would have to describe the book in a single word, that would be the right word I think. I suppose the writing team that stands behind Vina Jackson, also wanted to point out the title a little bit. Because love is not always fluffy and great. It is sometimes rather complicated and sad. Also in saying "I am blue" it stands often for "I am sad."However, I do not mean that you will need a lot of tissues, when you read it. But generally the sadness outweighs in the story. Because the constant back and forth and the various contradictions which Summer and Dominik have to overcome made the relationship between them very difficult. It is not easy to find compromises and produce an even balance between work, their own interests and passions and their time together. At the end of the first volume Summer and Dominik have found each other again. But they still live in two different cities as Dominik is in London and Summer is in New York. Dominik is afraid that the distance will destroy their new found relationship. Also they have not yet agreed of a monogamous relationship, it seems okay if they occasionally satisfy their needs elsewhere.Dominik therefore moves from London to New York, where he and Summer can live together in a loft - but it is more a temporary arrangement. This prospect surprised Summer at first, but she gets used to it very quickly. While reading, you realize how both characters develop more and more attraction for each other. Also, they continue to learn new facets in relation to their roles as dominant and submissive. But they learn these new facets mainly separated. Summers music career finally seems to start and she is given the opportunity to start a tour, but it leads her away from New York for several months - just then their relationship and their time together would actually begin. Dominik is naturally disappointed, but he doesn't want to stand in her way. So he lets her go. During this time you will notice, Dominik in particular, still does not know what he expects from the relationship with Summer or how to express his needs. While Summer is away in various cities and countries, he meets Lauralynn, a cellist he had previously invited to a joint musical performance with Summer. They develop a friendly relationship, although they also have a threesome of some sort. It is also Lauralynn which gives him the opportunity with one or another new erotic experience. The whole thing does not go that far that it can be called an an affair. Rather, they have respect for each other.Summer gets on her tour and has also the opportunity to return to her hometown in New Zealand. After long years of absence, she sees her family again. We also learn about Summers first sexual experience.Later the Tour ends and Summer gets back to New York. She is welcomed there by Simòn, the conductor of the orchestra in New York, whom she met anad worked with, when she was one of the violinists in his orchestra. By the same time, Dominik is in London, but will be back in a few days. Then Victor appears again. He, kind of, blackmails her with precarious pictures of the time she allowed herself to have an affair with him. But now she is in the public eye. If these images would be released, it might mean the end of Summers music career, which just got started. It also would jeopardize her relationship with Dominik.Viktor makes her an ultimatum. If she chooses to do what he demands from her, she once again slips into a role that she has already left behind. Her decision is not without consequences.Only at the end I understood the intention of the author team. Very often I have asked myself why this ongoing back and forth? It was interesting to see there Summer came from, but the side stories were rather boring. But unfortunately it is mostly that way in relationships: Life comes inbetween. A job transfer. A former love affair emerges. Or one is afraid of how the other one thinks of them, when the deepest secrets are revealed. The communication of Summer and Dominik could be better, I also have not really felt both as a couple. The longing that both feel for each other is more displayed in this book. However, that has not been enough that they could bring their relationship to the next level or say that they love each other.I was really anoyed about their behavior and the lack of initiative in order to grow their connection. Rather, both were distracted, so they both came to a stop and coudn't find a way out of their misery. I thought to myself again and again that I should not continue this book series - I kept getting this feeling towards the center of the book. But as soon as I got near the end, I still wanted to know how the story continues.
