About book 52 Powody, Dla Których Nienawidzę Mojego Ojca (2013)
Awwww! YAY!!! That was such a sweet book! And I love how it was written to make the simultaneously be disgusted and yet sympathise with Lexington at the same time at the start. I really enjoyed this story! There were some laugh-out-loud moments and some tender ones that I really liked. It's not life-changing or anything but I definitely appreciate a book that is well-written, has good characterization and ties up all the loose ends. Of course, the ending was a little bit simplified but it wasn't too extreme, and certainly interesting enough to not bother me too much. I purchased this book today when the author, Jessica Brody, presented a workshop at my local RWA (Romance Writers of America) chapter meeting. I started reading it when I got home and couldn't put it down. It's definitely a fish out of water story in that a spoiled heiress is forced by her father to work 52 jobs in one year to gain access to her trust fund. It isn't hard to guess that she learns a lot about herself and her father along the way, and I found myself rooting for her to discover what she was capable of as well as reconnect with her aloof father. There is a romantic element, but it's downplayed and, while I love romance, I didn't mind there wasn't a huge focus on it in this book. A very enjoyable read and I'll be reading more of Jessica's books.
