About book 31 Kisses (2000)

In “31 Kisses,” Chautona Havig takes a time-worn, yet classic holiday tradition and gives it a brand-new tweak. A Christian romance, “31” throws Chance and “Chessie” together through a chance encounter at a grocery store that later leads to a serendipitous encounter in a crazy, holiday be-decked front yard. Though Chessie’s character owns a big heart, she tends to be misunderstood and unappreciated due to an inability to curb an innate outspokenness. In counterpoint, Chance’s character possesses an easy-going, engaging, and altogether charming personality. The fledgling couple share a single, chaste kiss on each and every day of December until they fall in love. The romance is cleverly aided by the efforts of a lovable, if meddling, grandfather, and the chemistry between the duo is believable as well as quite touching. Over the course of “31,” Chance and Chessie share their hearts, their faith and their dreams. I got this as a Kindle Freebie. I really enjoyed this book. It's clean Christian romance. I did think that it was a little silly when Chessie was worried that she was a "ho" after one brief and chaste kiss with a man that she wasn't dating or even married to. The book was sweet though and I'm glad I read it. The characters are well created and I think I would have enjoyed this book at any time of the year, not just Christmastime.
