About book 3 Relatos: La Historia Secreta Del Hombre Gigante (2009)
The art was pretty, and the concept was interesting, but the stories ended up being less than engaging. The second story had me the most interested, but the author seemed to have a hard time balancing levels of subtlety and forwardness effectively.Additionally, the plot felt like Kind had a few ideas and couldn't decide on them completely so he just went with it. The strongest part of the plot was the nature of the changing relationships between Craig and the people in his life. However, the third story and a chunk of the second focused on the CIA subplot that felt unnatural at best to begin with, leaving me feeling jipped at the end that it was a focus at all. Kindt is a master at weaving stories together to form a complex and cohesive whole. I'm currently halfway through superspy, another excellent example. 3 Story tackles a completely different subject than superspy but with similar themes of tragedy and melancholy. True human connection is only temporary, and Kindt illustrates this belief with unusual stories that isolate and underscore the principle because of how far removed they are from everyday life. We are all alone, and yet we are never alone. Our connection to each other is deep and intense but oh so fragile.
