I liked this book. But I didn't LOVE it. :)One of the best things about this book was the main character- she was just so real. Her thoughts and feelings were so similar to me in so many ways, even though I haven't gone through most of the things she has. And one thing that I loved - not relatable to me, but to SO many people I know - she is addicted to Twitter!!! In EVERY chapter, her obsession with her online world and friends is revisited. And it was funny because it is just so true for so many teens. I liked that a lot. Even though it became mostly resolved by the end of the story... (no spoilers!)The main thing that drove me nuts about this book (and lots of other otherwise-awesome books) was the persistent language. It wasn't all "bad" language, f-bombs and all that, but even constant "small" words irritate me. It's one thing to have a couple here and there in a book; it's another thing when they're in every chapter. So for that one reason, I LIKED this book instead of LOVED it.But all in all, if the language doesn't bother you, READ THIS BOOK. It had great characters and great messages about showing your true self and what friendship really means. The storyline was a little lacking at times, but by the end you'll be tearing up so it's worth it (yes, tears means it was a wonderful book). I wish I could recommend '16 Things I Thought Were True' a little more strongly, but for now, 3 stars shall suffice. My feelings towards this book are mixed. I originally picked it up solely on the fact that it was a twitter book. I mean there was a freaking hashtag in the title! But if you're a twitter freak like me, I do not recommend this book for the twitter themes. It's clear that the author is trying really hard to fit in with the young social media community of today, unfortunately she does not succeed. For one she doesn't even understand the difference between Wifi and data. I ended up taking her twitter blunders as a hint of comedy within the story. The rest of the plot was decently emotional and charming, a typical teen summer read. Including an ending that breaks your heart in two; and a last line that'll force your eyes to roll.
