About book 11 Experiments That Failed (2011)

11 Experiments That Failed is a cute quirky book that not only has hilarious science experiments gone wrong, but it also introduces keys words in the process of creating science projects. This book helps readers learn the process of forming a hypothesis and performing steps to create an experiment. The experiments in this book, such as finding out if gerbils would like bigger wheels, shows readers that although a science experiment may not go as planned, you are still learning from it!** This book would be a fun way to introduce the topic of science experiments and a good activity to follow this book would be to have students create their own science experiments and form their own hypothesis and step by step projects.Offill, J., & Carpenter, N. (2011). 11 Experiments That Failed (p. 40). Schwartz & Wade. The perfect book for any young scientist or passionate experimenter! Love the diagrams of steps taken in each experiment and the laugh-out-loud moments caused by several of the experiments. A great intro book to lab safety at the beginning of the school year. Each experiment includes a question, hypothesis, "what you need" list, steps to take, results, AND delightful illustrations. I think the final experiment may be my favorite... or perhaps the bologna activity!
