About book 1000 Years Of Annoying The French (2010)
I used this book for a school project on the French Resistance, and it was a great reference! Lots of interesting and funny little titbits that I loved reading about. The best thing about it is that it doesn't have the fancy vocabulary and jargon that most history books have, it explains everything clearly. As you can tell by the name, it's a bit biased, but the author's amazing sense of humor makes up for it. From my travels around France and from having lived in Paris for 9 years, I've always been interested in the British vs. French rivalry, but I could never bring myself to read about it because everything seemed so boring. Until now! Even at nearly 700 pages I found this book fascinating and funny, and a great way to learn about this aspect of European history. Life's too short to read stuff you don't enjoy, so if you want a fun way to learn about the history between France and England (and impress all your friends at the next pub quiz), I highly recommend this book!
