I love Kuroshitsuji! It's one of those books where you're excited every time you get a new one and you expect greatness and that's exactly what you get. When you get it you read it until it's done and don't put it down unless there's a tornado, or you go into the tornado and read it and if the tornado tears your book away you curse at it then start crying. Toboso-sensei is my favorite female mangaka, beating Watase-sensei (woah!). I don't know how she does it, but every single of her characters are awesome. The majority are attractive, especially males, catering to my extremely picky and spoiled taste somehow. Faves-Sebastian Michaelis-dono, the hottest man ever (even beating Getbacker's Dr. Jackal!) then Prince Soma then the Undertaker. The females are strong and beautiful. Faves-the deceased Madame Red then Elizabeth, and Grell whom I am considering a girl since its gender is arguable. Even the despicable characters have a great character design. Toboso-sensei's style is what I want to emulate in the manga I plan to draw. Expect spoilers, by the way.This book made me like Lady Elizabeth a lot more because it's cool that she does everything for Ciel. Now, I still support Ciel and Sebas yaoi 'cause I'm a fangirl, but yeah. I like Grell :) . And the Viscount was a surprise, and I liked how everyone was like "Can we kill him now?!" I was like, ZOMBIES? Lame. But their premise of attacking people since they craved souls was the best I've seen. Now, I've always REALLY liked the Undertaker. And I'm glad to see he's a soul reaper with glowing eyes my fav color (chartreuse!). One thing I don't understand about soul reapers was how they have to wear glasses to do their assignments-why? I liked how everyone was fighting over the Undertaker but then he attacked back. And he's really beautiful when he gets his hair out of his eyes, but he loses his cool creepy touch. I really loved Sebas's backstory since it was funny how irritated he got when Ciel was being his normal picky self. I bet Sebas LOVED seeing Ciel naked...maybe not at that time, but as he fell more in love with Ciel, that memory remained fond in his mind. The opening is staggeringly well written, several characters get fleshed out in surprising ways, there is plenty of action but a lot less of the gore, thank goodness. And there is Grell :) If you loved the Jack the Ripper arc you are bound to enjoy this volume. That is not so much because the content is similar but because of the evocative nature of the storytelling in the first and last chapters.
