About book どうしても触れたくない [Doushitemo Furetakunai] (2008)
And while I was reading the last chapter of Doushitemo Furetakunai it felt like my heart was being crushed into pieces. The feeling when you really want to have something but you’re holding yourself back because you’re thinking that you shouldn’t let your feelings decide everything for you. And you’re thinking that, that something which you really hold dearly would slip away from your hands or worst, you could hurt him or her. The feeling that you would create an indelible scar to the person you care for the most. However, in thinking about these kinds of things we tend to overlook the feelings of that person. We overthink things, we conclude on our own. The truth is, all of these are all reasons for us to avoid being hurt.Ohmigash! This is what this story is all about. It also revolves around the influence of Shima’s past in his life. It’s like a nightmare that haunts him even in his day dreams. He’s overly conscious about love most especially about not opening to anyone because for him it’s better to be alone than be hurt. Oh fush, I can feel the feelings I felt while I was reading this manga! Oh crap! Shima-kun! The story is really good, it’s a MUST-READ. It’s not like those BL mangas who are purely physical. I admit at first that they’re relationship was just for fun and things like that. However, in the end, this was not the case!! The seme for instance really wanted at first to have a family of his own. He wanted to have a complete family, the kind of family he was deprived of. But, he gave all this up because he loved a person. He did all of this because of LOVE! Because he loved Shima-kun. Oh crap, I’m literally crying now. T.T How nice it is to have someone love you. And of course, in this manga, there was an issue of being gay. Shima’s traumatic past was because loved a man who spread bad rumors about him being gay. It’s really cruel. The guy is a jerk for treating Shima-kun that way, I hate him!I really liked the part when the Seme in this story (sorry I forgot his name) said that he loves Shima-kun for who he is. He accepted all those rumors and stories about him, the gay part and everything. Well, he can’t really badmouth Shima when it comes to being gay because the Seme is also gay since he did it with Shima-san countless of times already. Aaaah~! I’m literally feeling all the feels here, crap. I really liked the story! By the way this screencap was in the last chapter when the Seme confessed to Shima that he loves him but Shima wanted to end their relationship because for one, he can’t stand being away from the Seme, and two because the Seme really wanted to have a family and his 30 already. Shima wanted him to let go. They did it and then left each other and this was the Seme’s reaction. :’( How sad. Shima (gay man with angsty past) falls for Togawa (straight man with angsty past). For me, this had the PERFECT ratio of angst to comedy. I just love how Togawa's playfulness breaks through the walls Shima has built around himself. (The scene on the train, when Shima's ex calls is pure LOVE.) I do find the breakup painful, but I think it's worth it for the emotional payoff at the end. Also, I love love LOVE the art; the characters aren't especially muscley or masculine, but they still look like MEN and not girls without breasts. Also the Onoda extra at the end = LOVE! (Onoda was named the best side character of the year in このBLがやばい！, and deservedly so.) He's so adorable, and I love how he genuinely wants to help the main characters and doesn't take the friend who's all "you'd be happier with me!" role. ...Uh, so, in short, this manga = LOVE.
