About book Saving Forever - Part 1 (2013)

(2.5 Stars)After reading all of the fabulous reviews for "Saving Forever," I could hardly wait to read it. However, as I progressed throughout the story I found myself wondering where is the conflict/challenge/problem? Well, when I reached the end of this short story and still found myself asking this question, I knew this was not going to be the series for me.First and foremost, the author adequately warns potential readers that this is a romance novel and not erotica. I appreciated that. However, all stories must have a conflict of some sort in order to make the plot interesting. Charity Thompson dropped out of medical school much to the dismay of her surgeon father to become a hospital fund raising liason. After a heated argument between the two after visiting the graveside of her mother, the relationship with her father has been strained. However, Charity just accepted a two year contract with a hospital in Atlanta and is trying to begin her new job when she receives a phone call from Dr. Elijah Bennet is using her father's phone. They speak briefly and she is intrigued by his New Zealand accent.Charity's father wants to hire here to plan a charity event for his birthday. He wants to raise money for new equipment for the hospital. Charity agrees to assist him on weekends only as not to interfere with her new job. As she begins to fly back and forth from Atlanta to New York she becomes more and more attracted to Elijah the womanizing doctor of the hospital; but, due to their busy schedules they aren't quite able to truly hook up.This is the basic story. So where is the drama or intrigue? This is a major problem for me. Additionally and quite honestly, I am not even sure I even liked Charity. She seems desperate for a man and in her quest to find one she ignores Elijah's womanizing. Elijah seems like a fun guy but I really question whether or not he is boyfriend material. I am confused about where this trilogy is going. I don't know whether to go on to read part two with the hope that it will get better or stop right here and cut my losses. With that being said, the only advice I can give prospective readers is read it for yourself and decide! I'm impatiently waiting for part 2!!Charity runs a business basically helping charities plan fundraisers. Her new contract in Atlanta will keep her busy there for the next two years. Her father calls from New York asking her to plan his birthday/fundraiser for his hospital. While in New York she meets the new chief of staff, Elijah. Immediately attracted to him. She continues to go back to New York on weekends to work on her father's project, getting closer to Elijah.Elijah is a ladies man, if you can believe the chatter in the hospital it seems he's slept with every nurse and resident. Now waiting for part 2 so I can see where this goes!
